The figures you enter

Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The salaries, pension figures and session rates you type in are never sent to a server and are never seen by anyone else. Some tools save your inputs in your browser’s local storage so your work survives a refresh, that data stays on your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.

The same goes for the NHS pension statement you can give the pension calculator. The PDF is read on your device and never uploaded. The calculator keeps only the pension figures it finds, in your browser. Your name and membership number are ignored and never saved.

The one exception is the locum rates survey, which exists to collect answers and is covered next.

The GP rates survey

If you answer the GP locum rates survey, your answers are stored in a database on Cloudflare. For a locum session: the month you worked it, the region, the kind of work, the number of patient contacts, what you were paid, how the employer pension was handled, and whether you booked it through Lantum. For a salaried GP: the region and your salary per session. Each is kept with the time you submitted it. No name, email address, practice or free text is asked for. If you tell the survey you booked through a third party, nothing about you is stored.

Headline results are ranges for groups of at least five answers. Results by region are shown however few answers a region has, so the amount in a single answer can appear against its region and kind of work, with nothing else attached to it.

To stop one source flooding the figures, each day the survey counts submissions against a scrambled, one-way code made from your internet address. It cannot be turned back into the address, it changes every day, and previous days’ counts are deleted. Your browser keeps a random code in local storage so you can come back to the results; it is not linked to your answers.

The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that it is being filled in by a person. Turnstile processes technical information about your browser for that check, under Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum.

The legal basis is legitimate interests: publishing anonymous information about locum pay that locums have chosen to contribute. Because answers are not linked to you, an individual answer cannot be found and removed later, so only submit what you are happy to share.

Visit counting

Anonymous page visits are counted using GoatCounter, so it’s possible to see which tools people find useful. It sets no cookies, does not track you across sites, and records no personal data and nothing you enter into a calculator. It records that a page was viewed, along with the referring site, rough location, and browser type, and a few anonymous milestones, such as a calculator reaching its results, or a pension statement being read and which scheme sections it had. Never any of your figures.

The contact form

If you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you submit are emailed onwards so they can be read and replied to. They are used only to answer your enquiry, are never added to the email updates list, and are not shared with anyone else.

The legal basis is legitimate interests, answering someone who has written in. The email is kept for up to 12 months after the conversation ends and is then deleted, or sooner if you ask.

Email updates

If you sign up to be told when the figures are updated, your email address is stored by Resend, the service that sends the emails. Whether you sign up from a calculator’s results or from the box on the tools and guides pages, it is the same single list, covering both things it names: a message when the figures change for a new tax year, and related GP finance news on pensions, tax and locum money. Your address is never sold or shared, it is not used to send you anything else, and no calculator inputs are attached to it.

Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, which takes effect immediately. You can also ask via the contact form to be removed entirely.

Third-party links

Any payment page links to Stripe. If you follow that link, Stripe’s own privacy policy applies to what happens there. It receives nothing you entered into a calculator.
