Android beta — testers wanted
Help test the GP Locum app
I’m building an Android app for GP locums, and I’m looking for a few locums to use it on real work before it goes on the Play Store. It’s Android only at the moment — an iPhone version comes next.
What the app does
It is the paperwork side of locum work, on your phone, without the spreadsheet:
- Log a session as you book it, with the practice, the rate and whether it’s pensionable.
- Raise an invoice from those sessions as a PDF, ready to send from the phone.
- Fill the official NHS Pensions Form A and Form B — the real forms, with the 90% pensionable pay and the employer contribution worked out for you.
- Put your sessions in your phone’s calendar, so your diary and your invoices can’t drift apart.
- Track mileage and expenses, and keep a running figure for what to set aside for tax.
Everything stays on the phone. There is no account with me and no server behind it. You can back it up to your own Google Drive if you want to — that is optional, off until you switch it on, and it goes to a Drive of yours rather than to me. The app’s privacy policy lists everything that leaves the phone, including that.
What testing involves
Using it for your own locum work and telling me when something is wrong, missing or annoying. There is no minimum, no schedule and nothing to fill in — one message saying “this bit made no sense” is genuinely useful.
The test runs through Google Play, so you install it the normal way and updates arrive on their own. It is free during the test, and it will stay free for anyone who tested it.
One thing worth saying plainly: it is a beta, so check anything that matters — an invoice total, a Form A figure — before you send it to a practice or to NHS Pensions.
